Originally when I presented I did a lesson on personalizing the writing prompt, which is something I did more as an Instructional Coach years ago. After much thought, I decided to show you more of what I do in my classroom on an everyday basis demonstrating how we can use writing to increase our students’ learning. I know often times, I used to get very frustrated that my students, “couldn’t write at all”, but then when I took a look at what I was doing (or not doing actually) and rather than get frustrated decided there had to be a way that my students could learn science and improve their writing. There is such a way, and there is so much research on it (believe it or not this was an idea that was big in the 70’s, and has made a comeback). I love teaching my students not only science, but how to become better writers. I hope by the end of my presentation you will be able to take some ideas back to your own classroom.

Kristina,
I look forward to what you are doing. In the Breakthroughs book one of the most interesting pieces was Energy Conversion on page 311. Hopefully I can apply what Alexa did and your ideas.
Thanks!
