I want to apologize for what probably appears as a very negative "exit ticket" or (whatever you're calling it) today. I've been thinking about what I wrote and if I don't provide specific background, then what I said just seems whiny.
I did not understand the purpose of the article before starting my search. I did not understand why we spent so much time learning to use the research center, nor did I understand what I was going to do with the article after I had located it. This is all probably due to me not paying attention when I was supposed to, so I put the blame on myself.
However, after finally locating an article, I'm not really sure how much it will help me or my presentation. I don't understand the difference between citing a article about my subject or a book about my subject. It seems that a book should hold more weight and for me, it ultimately more useful. I just don't see how reading about test subjects in certain settings exposed to specific criteria is going to help me as teacher or presenter.
Maybe I'm being whiny again, but I really struggled with the purpose of the assignment and I'm voicing that frustration here. It's also possible that I'm not looking at the larger picture and please feel free to set me straight. :)
Thank you for listening to me and for welcoming me into the class. I am so excited to learn from other teachers and take what I've learned back to my classroom. See you Sunday.
